We all have those days that we are running around and feel overwhelmed and have so much that we need to finish/accomplish before we lay down in bed at night. Hopefully with these tips or ideas, you can be be in control of those crazy days and feel that you have accomplishment a lot by lunch or dinner time!

 

CREATE A DAILY PLAN:

Plan your day the night before, this will help put those stressful minds at ease and get a good nights rest. The plan/to-do list gives you a good overview of how the day will pan out. That way, you don't get caught off guard. Your job for the day is to stick to the plan as best as possible.

 

Ideas on creating your plan for the next day: 1. you can be break it down to the basic (wake up, get dressed, get kids up for school, get breakfast, pack lunches, etc.) or 2. you can be vague with the list (get kids to school, get groceries, run errands, pick up kids, after school activities, etc.) 3. you can plan your errands in order from where you are located at and how many errands you can do before your next activity or appointment that you cannot move/re-schedule.

 

BE SPECIFIC and DO REASONABLE DEADLINES:

Be clear that you need to finish X task by 10am, Y task by 3pm, and Z item by 5:30pm. This will help prevent errands/activities/tasks from dragging on and eating into the time that is reserved for other activities.

 

For an example of a reasonable goal/timeframe to have all errands done by lunch time or by the time you need to pick up the kids from school. By accomplishing everything you can before the timeframe ends will give you some relaxation and you can focus on the activities or appointments that come after picking up the kids.

 

USE A CALENDAR:

Having a calendar is the most fundamental step to managing your daily activities. If you use outlook or lotus notes, calendar come as part of your mailing software. Some smart phone have a calendar already installed. Use the calendar to the fullest, when you add events, activities to the calendar it will create block times fro those items. This will help you to know when you have free time or when you can run some errands in between activities.

We use a calendar to keep everyone on the team on the same page during our busiest days. It's even better if you can sync your calendar to your mobile phone and other hardwares you use - that way, you can access your schedule no matter where you are.
